Over the summer, the Fishing Heritage Centre has been working with Professor Peter Reid of Robert Gordon University to uncover the stories of the Norwegians and Danes who came to Buckie during the Second World War. On Thursday this week (18th October) we are having an open afternoon from 2pm at the Heritage Centre for anyone who has stories or memorabilia about the Norwegian or Danish communities, and the descendants of any of those who stayed on in the town are particularly welcome. We will be joined by Eyvind Gulbrandsen, a Norwegian musician, who is artist-in-residence to the project as part of European Year of Cultural Heritage. Some of the stories we have uncovered can be read at www.hjem.org.uk
