Nurse Florence Smith

Florence Smith attended Findochty Primary School then Buckie High School leaving school in the early 1920’s. As too young to undertake her nurse training she spent two years at Portsoy fever hospital.

Nurse Flo, as she was known, was a well known character in and around Buckie. Before the days of maternity units she was present at a large number of births and for many years she saw most of the residents of Buckie into the world.

She tells us of her life and her work and her down to earth modesty which does not make us aware of the high esteem in which she was held.
